Department of History
Faculty

The History Department has four full-time faculty members.

LAWSON BOWLING teaches primarily 20th Century American history and  the history of Italy. He was educated at Emory, Pennsylvania, and Columbia Universities.

MOHAMED MBODJ teaches African history and is Director of the African Studies Program.  He was educated at Dakar and Paris Universities.

COLIN MORRIS teaches colonial and nineteenth-century United
States history and is Director of the American Studies Program.
He was educated at Manchester and Rochester Universities.

IRENE WHELAN teaches modern European history and is Director of the Irish Studies Program.  She was educated at the National University of Ireland, Galway and the University of Wisconsin.

History courses are also offered by the following regular part-time faculty:

ROBERT ASHKINAZE teaches pre-modern European and Russian
history.  He was educated at Long Island and City (N.Y.) Universities.

GALE JUSTIN teaches medieval European history and is
 Director of Instructional Technology for the College.  She was
educated at Vassar College and the City University of New York.

THERESA KELLEHER teaches East Asian history.  A member of
the Department of World Religions, she was educated at
Manhattanville College and Hawaii and Columbia Universities

CYNTHIA MEDCALF teaches South Asian history and Middle Eastern history.  She was educated at the University of Virginia..

DON RICHARDS teaches American immigration history and is Associate Dean of the School of Graduate & Professional Studies.  He was educated at Fordham, Long Island, and Notre Dame Universities.

BABOUCARR SAHO teaches African history.
He was educated at Howard University.
