INDEPENDENT
STUDIES
have long formed a significant part of the experience
of students who study with the Department of History.
Independent Study projects are available for variable credit; their
exact nature is determined via the mutual consent of faculty
supervisor and student. Independent Study forms, available
from the Registrar's Office, Brownson Hall, are filled out
describing the proposed project, signed, and filed with the
Registrar. The projects may consist of tutorials, written
essays, or a combination of the above. Interested students
should speak to a faculty member.
Independent Studies afford opportunities for directed study
of topics not covered in the regular courses offered, or not covered
to the degree of interest on the part of the student. They
also facilitate direct interaction between faculty member and
student.
Here are some examples, among many, of recent Independent Studies
by Manhattanville History students:
*Modern Iraq
*Muhammed
Ali
*Palestine/Israel Conflict

*American Finance
