Expectations
“I don’t know what your destiny will be, but one thing
I know; the only ones among you who will be really happy
are those who will have sought and found how to serve.” Albert
Schweitzer
What is expected of a
McCormack Scholar?
McCormack Scholars are expected to challenge themselves.
They are urged to explore new ideas and new worlds and
to take intellectual and professional risks.
They are encouraged to dream largely and to pursue their
dreams aggressively.
They are expected to set goals and to take advantage of
the mentoring and support offered by the college and the
McCormack Scholarship staff to plan a program that will
help them achieve their goals.
Scholars are expected to work with their program mentors
to plan a series of summer experiences that will expand
upon their academic experience and empower them to develop
their full potential.
Scholars are expected to maintain their academic standing
and to be active, involved participants in the Manhattanville
community.
McCormack Scholars are expected to become engaged citizens
both in their chosen field of endeavor and in the community
at large.
And perhaps most importantly, scholars are expected to
give back to those people and institutions that have supported
them – their college, their communities and the world.
Each scholar will meet these expectations in his or her
own unique way.
