FOOTLIGHTS
Manhattanville College in Purchase is showing, rather than telling, what good writing sounds like in its new staged reading series, ''Playing With Words,'' sponsored by the college's master of arts program in creative writing and its Dowd-O'Gorman Writing Center. On March 5 at 3 p.m. the series continues with ''Ripped From the Headlines,'' in which professional actors, including Karen Ziemba, a Tony winner, will read from four plays: ''Coyote'' by George Malko; ''Words, Words, Words'' by David Ives; ''Catastrophe'' by Samuel Beckett; and ''Jaguar Jesus'' by Warren Leight. A question-and-answer period will follow. Reservations are recommended. Information: (914) 323-5300.
