Choosing your future graduate degree program:
| Professional
Masters (MA) - The professional Master's degree is usually a one to
two year program that results in a terminal degree. Once the
degree has been earned, an individual is prepared to begin a
career in a specific field, such as Education, Psychology,
Engineering, etc. |
Research Masters (MA) - An individual usually enrolls in a research
Master's for a one to two year period of time, presumably to gain
the knowledge and experience needed to continue on with a PhD
program.

Research Doctorate (PhD) - A PhD program can take anywhere
from four to six years to complete and requires extensive
coursework, research and an original dissertation.

Professional Doctorate (JD, MD, other) - A professional
doctorate is earned by successfully completing the requirements
for law school, medical school, dental school, or veterinary
school. |
