NATIONAL SECURITY EDUCATION PROGRAM
DAVID L. BOREN UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

Purpose: 

To enable undergraduate students who are able to fulfill the NSEP Service requirement the opportunity to pursue the study of languages and underrepresented cultures through a semester, summer, or one-year study abroad program.

Fields of Study:

Agricultural and Food Sciences; Applied Science and Engineering, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics; Business and Economics; Computer and Informational Sciences; Health and Biomedical Science; History; International Affairs; Law; Other Social Sciences, including Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology); Political Science and Policy Studies 

Eligibility: 

To qualify, a candidate must:

1)      be a U.S. citizen at the time of application

2)      be a matriculated undergraduate student

3)      be applying to engage in a study abroad program outside of Western Europe, Canada, Australia or New Zealand

4)     plan to use the scholarship money to study abroad for either a semester, a summer, or one full year (study aboard program must end before student's intended graduation date) 

5)  agree to fulfill the NSEP Service requirement

Award:  

  • Scholarships are based on merit, the cost of the study abroad program, and financial aid information provided by the student.
  • The maximum award is $8,000 for summer, $10,000 for a semester or $20,000 for a full academic year.
  • Any outside study abroad funding should be reported to NSEP.
