HSBC: FIRST OPPORTUNITY PARTNERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Purpose:     

To improve access to and success at private colleges and universities for first generation, low-income, minority, and new American students

Fields of Study:

Any field of study is acceptable

Eligibility:    

To qualify, a candidate must:  

1.       be a full-time student selected as a nominee from the college; only one nomination per college is permitted 

2.       be matriculated as a sophomore at the time of application

3.       have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5

4.       be a first generation college student (neither parent attended college)

5.       be a member of a minority group or a new American (student is an immigrant; need NOT be a U.S.   citizen; students with student visas not eligible)

6.       be a recipient of a Pell Grant (or with demonstrable high financial need)

7.       have either high unmet financial need or high loan/work requirement

Award:  

$5,000 scholarship; renewable for two more years for a total of up to $15,000 per student
