BARRY M. GOLDWATER SCHOLARSHIP

Purpose:

In honor of Senator Barry M. Goldwater -  to provide support to those Undergraduate students who wish to pursue a career in academic study and research, specifically in mathematics, natural sciences, or engineering.

Fields of Study:  

Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Engineering; including but not limited to Aerospace Engineering, Aquatic/Natural Resources Management, Astrophysics, Applied Sciences, Biochemistry/Microbiology, Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Quantum Mechanics, Zoology

(Students who plan to study medicine are eligible only if they plan a research career rather than a career as a medical doctor in a private practice)

Eligibility: 

            To qualify, a candidate must:

1)  be nominated by Faculty Representative from Manhattanville College (the college may make up to 4 nominations) 

2)   be a full-time matriculated sophomore or junior pursuing a degree at an accredited institution of higher education during the 2006-2007 academic year.

3)   have a GPA of at least "B" (or the equivalent) and be in the upper fourth of their class

4)   be a U.S. citizen, a resident alien, or U.S. national

Award:  

Up to a maximum of $7,500 annually covers:
  • tuition
  • fees
  • books
  • room and board
  • Students receiving scholarship money for their Junior year of study are eligible for a maximum of two years of scholarship support.
  • Students receiving scholarship money for their Senior year are eligible for a maximum of one year of scholarship support.
