US-IRELAND ALLIANCE
GEORGE J. MITCHELL SCHOLARSHIP

 

Purpose:   

In honor of former U.S. Senator George J. Mitchell - to enable academically exceptional students demonstrating leadership skills and a commitment to community service to study one year of graduate coursework at a university in Ireland or Northern Ireland

Fields of Study:

          Any field of study is acceptable. 

Eligibility:

To qualify, a candidate must:

1)       be a U.S. citizen

2)       be between the ages of 18 and 30 (by 10/1 in the year of application for the following year's award)

3)   earn an Undergraduate degree by August before beginning graduate study with the scholarship

4)   be interested in pursuing a graduate program of study that is offered at one of the universities in Ireland or Northern Ireland.

5)   demonstrate exceptional levels of academic achievement, leadership, and community service

As stated in the website's FAQ, an applicant need not be of Irish origin or ethnicity.

Award:  

For one graduate academic year:
  • tuition
  • housing
  • $12,000 stipend toward living expenses
  • international travel
