THE TRUMAN SCHOLARSHIP

Purpose:   

For students who intend to pursue a career in government, the non-profit sector, or public service.

Fields of Study:

Government, any field relating to public service

Eligibility: 

To qualify, a candidate must:

1)     be a U.S. citizen or national

2)      be a full-time Junior (except for residents of PR, the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa or the Nothern Marianas, who must be in their Senior class) with an excellent academic record 

3)   be in the upper quarter of his/her class

4)   have extensive public and community service records and have outstanding leadership qualities and communication skills.

5)    obtain nomination by Manhattanville's Truman Scholarship Faculty Representative

Award:  

Up to $30,000 in funding for graduate school for tuition, fees, books, room and board and other specifically approved expenses
*Scholars are required to work in public service for 3 of the 7 years following completion of a graduate degree program funded by the Foundation as a condition of receiving funding.
