Welcome to the Annual Leadership Conference website!
Dear Colleagues,
Manhattanville College is proud to announce that our Annual Leadership Conference will take place on February 20th, 2010. This year our theme of Diversity is summed up by a quote by Maya Angelou: “Diversity is the one true thing we all have in common. Celebrate it everyday!” There is nothing more important than showing our student leaders that the key to success starts within themselves and at our leadership conference we venture to provide many opportunities to learn how to accomplish this.
Our keynote speaker, Dr. Maura Cullen has a doctorate in Social Justice and Diversity Education. She is the author of ‘35 Dumb Things Well-Intended People Say’ and the founding faculty of the Social Justice Training Institute Higher Education Student Affairs Professional. Dr. Cullen has 25 years of experience as a diversity trainer/speaker at over 400 universities and organizations. Dr. Cullen will simplify the complex issues of diversity to our participants at our conference in an entertaining and educational manner. The first 100 people to register will receive a free copy of her book.
We would also like to invite you and your staff to actively participate in the conference. The exchange of ideas among colleagues is an important part of gaining new perspectives in our work with students. All participants are especially encouraged to submit a program proposal. This is an excellent opportunity for participants to showcase a successful program they have developed or share their expertise in the area of personal development. We are looking for innovative program ideas that will prepare our student leaders to be able to engage and involve their own campus community in these specific topics.
To submit a program proposal, please see the Proposal Topics page. There you will find the criteria for your proposals as well as the deadline for submission. Please be advised that volunteering to present does not automatically Register you or your institution for the conference. The conference committee will review all proposals and you will be notified of its approval via email.
To attend, please
fill out the registration form and mail in with a check. Online registration will be available in December.
